No tricks, just treats at Gateway Club Halloween night

The Bishop’s Waltham Gateway Club received a real treat at its October Halloween event when it was presented with a cheque for £500 from the Bishop’s Waltham Town Team. The money was raised by the Town Team from the ticket sales for October Bishop’s Waltham Bites Event, featured in last month’s Parish News.

The Gateway Club supports adults with learning difficulties. It meets between 7pm and 9pm every first and third Mondays of the month at the Church Hall in Bishop’s Waltham.
The Club aims to provide a fun and safe environment for its members. Events include discos, games, group outings, annual Christmas Dinner with a visit from Santa, and much more.

Club leader Jani Chamberlain said “We are very grateful for this generous donation from the Town Team. As a small charity we depend on donations to be able to provide some extra activities for our members. Club members will help us to decide what activities to undertake next year with these funds.”

Town Team Acting Chairman Robin Shepherd, who, with Sweet Corner Proprietor, Sophie Green, presented the cheque at the Gateway Club’s Halloween event said “We are very pleased to be able to pass on the proceeds from Bishop’s Waltham Bites to such a deserving organisation. On behalf of the Town Team itself and the eight participating outlets, it is great to know that the funds we raised will be able to provide that little bit extra to Gateway Club activities.”
