Contrary to rumours circulating around the county, the famous August Bank Holiday Monday Car Boot Sale at Brockwood Park near Bramdean is back in business.
Held every year for over 30 years, the popular Car Boot Sale is hosted at the home of Caroline Stanley who devised and has organised the event for over three decades. She has decided, quite rightly, to hang up her collecting bucket this year but as a former volunteer for family support charity Home-Start she is happy for the charity’s fundraising team to take over the reins.
“I will of course be keeping an eagle eye on proceedings,” says Caroline “and will be popping in for a bacon butty to see how they are getting on.”
Gates open at 8am on Monday 26th August and eager buyers should follow signs from the A272. Car boot entry is £10, with vans and trailer £15 and buyers are asked for a donation to the charity as they arrive.
“We are so grateful to Caroline for all the work she has done for Home-Start over the years, both as a volunteer supporting struggling families and as a brilliant fundraiser,” said Home-Start Winchester Chairman Liz Cooper. “Let’s hope for good weather and lots of booters and buyers back in Brockwood on Monday August 26th.”
