The Meon Valley Garden Club has been in existence for over 100 years, although up to twenty years ago it was known as the Meon Valley Flower Show Society. It is a friendly and sociable group, drawing its membership from the villages of the Meon Valley and further afield including Horndean, Fareham, Southampton and Portsmouth.
The club offers its members the benefits of a full programme of activities throughout the year, which inlcudes:
In the winter months we have illustrated talks on gardening, wildlife, travel and other topics of interest to the members as well as quiz nights organised by the Hampshire Federation.
The Spring Flower Show held in Soberton, with its abundance of colour welcomes the new growing season and attracts visitors from far and wide. See our Events page for more details of our coming programme.
The Club holds plant sales in the spring and autumn with a wide range of plants at bargain prices.
In the Summer months there is a schedule of visits to gardens, some famous and some not so famous. See our Events page for more details of our coming programme.
In mid summer the Main Show is held in Meonstoke. This is the biggest event in the Club’s calendar, a traditional country flower show and much more, attracting exhibitors and visitors for a great family afternoon of exhibits, sideshows, craft stalls, children’s game and live music. See our Events page for more details of our coming programme.
Throughout the year the Club holds a number of social events including a coffee morning, skittles evening and summer barbecue.
All of this for an annual membership fee of just £3.
