At the start of the year the Family team at Trethowans advertised a free workshop called ‘New Beginnings’, running across the year in different locations. The workshop is designed for people facing separation to help attendees improve self-esteem, offer coping strategies and provide tips to support their children. Ultimately, with the help of trained professionals, the workshop provides practical tools for developing an effective co-parenting relationship post-separation and ensures attendees have the tools necessary to maintain their own well-being, and that of their children, through the difficult process of divorce.
Hosted by Trethowans, the professional speakers include Ashley Palmer and Leigh Moriarty, authors of The Handover Book and experts in child and family psychotherapy, Nikki Emerton who is a Master Practitioner in NLP, Hypnotherapist, Life Coach and Lightning Process® Practitioner with qualifications in safeguarding adults and children, and Lara Lauder, a qualified, award winning Colour Analyst & Personal Stylist. We have so far hosted two out of the four workshops, which have taken place in Poole and Salisbury and thought we would catch up with some of our experts.
Ashley Palmer has said ”Separating is painful. You feel an immense sense of confusion, loss and uncertainty as to what to do next. Keeping everyone feeling safe is important whilst you navigate the process of separation. With a sense of possibility, you can create a world where your children will thrive. Knowing where to start and what you can do can be incredibly challenging. Knowledge is key, having information and strategies in place can help everything seem less daunting. Attendees of the Trethowans workshops found it incredibly helpful to learn new ways of understanding everyone’s behaviour patterns before, during and after a family separation. I find it incredible that this is a free workshop, guests thought there must be a catch…but no, we are all simply here to help anyone who is finding family separation challenging and exhausting.”
Nikki Emerton added “The workshops have been a great place for people who are experiencing similar circumstances to come together, feel accepted and learn a range of skills and strategies to help them through the more challenging times they may face. Trethowans have considered what is the best use of time and have succeeded in providing professionals that can coach on parenting, confidence, self-worth and generally boosting the morale of the participants. I hope that they are able to continue with these workshops in the future as they are a fantastic opportunity for those who attend.”
Most importantly, we wanted to obtain feedback from the attendees who said “The best part about the workshop was the friendly speakers and the non-stressful way the content was conveyed. Everyone was friendly and supportive.”
“The workshop was excellent. Really helpful and great to meet people in the same position. Thank you!”
We are pleased to confirm we have two more workshops taking place on the 18th September 2019 at the Hotel Du Vin in Winchester and on the 7th November 2019 at the Botleigh Park Hotel in Southampton. If you would like to find out more about the workshops, please email [email protected].
